THE BOEING CLASSIC EARNS THE CHAMPIONS TOUR’S 2009 OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

The presentation was made at the annual Champions Tour Tournament Association Meetings in San Antonio, TX

The Boeing Classic announced today that the tournament has been awarded by the PGA TOUR’s Champions Tour the 2009 Outstanding Achievement Award. The presentation was made at the annual Champions Tour Tournament Association Meetings in San Antonio, TX.

The Outstanding Achievement Award is provided each year to a tournament the TOUR believes is deserving of special recognition. In the award presentation, Champions Tour President Mike Stevens listed several items that factored in the TOUR’s decision to honor the Boeing Classic, including the tournament’s record attendance in 2009, the impressive coordination between tournament officials and their key partners – namely title sponsor Boeing and the Seattle Seahawks - and the innovative player and fan experiences that make the tournament a unique and popular stop on the TOUR.

“It is a great accomplishment to receive this award on the Fifth Anniversary of the Boeing Classic,” said Michelle DeLancy, Tournament Director. “We have a great group of volunteers, community leaders, partners and staff that have built the Boeing Classic in to one of the premier events on the Champions Tour. We share this award with the best title sponsor on the TOUR, Boeing, and with their support look forward to hosting an even better event in 2010 while continuing to give back to Virginia Mason Medical Center and other local charities.”

Efforts are well underway for the 2010 Boeing Classic and more than 500 volunteers have already signed on to participate in next year’s event, being held August 23-29, 2010.

The Boeing Classic is an Official Event of the PGA TOUR Champions Tour and in 2009 celebrated its fifth anniversary. In the tournament’s five-year history, more than $2.9 million has been raised for The Heart Institute at Virginia Mason Medical Center and additional Greater Seattle Charities. The 2010 event will take place from August 23-29. For additional tournament information, log on to www.BoeingClassic.com.
